Log Entry: Thursday April 29thBellingham to Double Island
We filled the fuel tanks at Bellingham Marina before leaving. We had trouble docking against the wind: I'm still uncomfortable with the bow thruster controls. Took 72 gallons. The trawler beside us at the fuel dock didn't think much of our docking effort... We sailed from Bellingham to Double Island, and anchored tucked in behind the island (it's actually two islands only at low tide ...). Had a great sail across part of Bellingham Bay, then the wind started dying, moving around, etc. We saw only one seal. Ching was bewildered and probably a little seasick. The anchorage was very calm, nice after the sail. We were going to pick up a mooring, but when we got close they said "private". Decided on a general course to Vancouver: we have to go there to get our dry suit repaired. We will get there about Tuesday, after spending a few days in the Gulf Islands. Tomorrow we go to Sydney, to clear customs. [When we checked the transmission fluid, it was quite dark: we need to change it. Washed out the propane locker where a torn container of oil had leaked: it seemed as if this was the first time the locker had ever been washed! We ran the generator for an hour tonight and we'll run it again tomorrow morning. It's still leaking a little diesel. Somewhere we have the washer that Klassen Motors gave us...]
