Log Entry: May 2nd, 1999Wallace Island to Vancouver
Jane's log:
Vancouver was full full full, at least in False Creek. First, before we even got there, we had a to get through a lot of traffic in the "traffic separation scheme", with a few disagreements as to proper procedure. Then, when we got through the scheme, we started phoning around to find a slip for two nights, there were none, we started towards Coal Harbour, where there were lots of slips, but decided in the end to forge ahead into False Creek, and anchor if necessary (our friends Bob and Kris had done that the previous spring). Then, Jane contacted the False Creek Yacht Club, and although we were not able to speak to the manager, it seemed as though they would let us stay. When we got into False Creek, we found that the Yacht Club was directly across the water from the Granville Market. There was room along a dock right under the bridge, so we pulled up there and moored. I was worried about bird droppings, but put that out of my mind, glad to have found a slip. We found a few members who seemed to think that spending the night there wouldn't be a problem. We dinghied across to the island with the dry suit that needed repairing, and left it at the dive store. (They gave us flippers free of charge.)
