Smuggler Cove to Ballet Bay: 18nm
We sailed to Ballet Bay. It became
quite rough in the Malaspina Strait: three to five foot following seas with winds up to 25
knots. We sailed most of the way with just the jib, then motored the last few miles. I
played with the autopilot to see if I could make it keep a better heading, but ended up
with a lot of yaw. The boat was pitching, so we motored across the waves towards our
destination only when the waves were quieter, and put the larger waves directly over the
stern.

We got into Blind Bay, and everything quieted down. We found our way into
Ballet Bay, very calm and quiet. During the afternoon, we got the watermaker going: 5
liters an hour. |
