Log Entry: Friday, May 14th, 1999Codville Lagoon to Bottleneck Cove: 62 nm
Saw our first gray whale leaving the Lagoon. Breached twice. So-called because of the bar, which can go down to 9 feet Magnificent cove, clear view of the mountains outside and across the channel. Went past New Bella Bella Another peek at the ocean, but much calmer Had a great sail for about three hours Tried to remove Juneau AK with lacquer thinner, but got nowhere. Jane's log: "motored via Lama Passage to Millbank Sound in light winds, slight swell under us in the sound. "Got a great sail in 8 - 18 SW winds up Findlayson Channel. Spotted a gray whale breaching as we came out of Codville Lagoon. Lots of eagles around Bella Bella. And a possible sighting of an Orca just as we came into Bottleneck Cove. "Relaxed after a long day in the cockpit with woodpeckers and gulls, and a lot of scooters ..."
