Today we checked out the whole town, and did a serious search for a battery to replace Battery Bank #1, which had died. We looked at deep-cycle 4Ds, 8Ds, and golfcart 6-volt batteries. There were no golfcart batteries in town (Ilari currently uses two golfcart batteries in series to make one battery bank). A 4D was going to be a tight fit. After thinking long and hard, and doing more research, we decided that long-term, we would replace both banks with 8Ds (many, many amp-hours!), and do a temporary replacement of Bank 1 with a smaller deep-cycle 12-volt battery. The 4D was going to be too tight without moving a whole bunch of stuff around.

We also bought a real crab trap; shielded computer wire; groceries; shackles (you can never have too many shackles!); a new battery specific gravity tester (I didn’t trust the two on board).

We decided to spend a third night in Rupert. We met Bob Warshawer, and had dinner with him at the Cow Bay Cafe.
