Rain.  But then it faded ...

This was our first exposure to real ocean swell: it was about 10 feet, but gentle!

Jane's log:

" ... luckily no rain in a comfortable 8-10 ft swell.   A whale joined us for part of the way around the cape: we saw him dive about 6-8 times, but still not sure about the species ...

" Wonderful shelter in the Barrier Islands as we came through Thomas Passage.  We spotted a humpback or gray whale breaching just before we anchored.

" Probably our nicest anchorage to date.  We watched eagles fish for dinner!

" We picked up a Pan Pan from the US Coast Guard: a 22ft vessel was found with no one on board: the crew was a 70-year old man from Washington State.  The boat was discovered on the west end of Ham Island.   hope this is not the gentleman I met in Prince Rupert sailing his boat north for the first time ...

" We dinghied around and brought Ching ashore for a quick visit.

"Great sunset!"

No one else in the anchorage ...
