Whales spouting as we left in the morning

We were supposed to stop in Excursion Inlet, but decided at the last minute to keep going ...

An important part of the ritual every morning is the preparation and consumption of coffee.  I hope, over the long run, to start using raw beans which we roast ourselves, but for now, we buy roasted beans along the way, and grind them every morning (we also intend to convert to manual grinding, but for now we still have an electric version).  Haagen, in Bellingham, had good coffee; more recently, we discovered good coffee in Ketchikan: Misty Fjords, made by Raven's Brew Coffee.

Jane's log:

"We left Glacier Bay on an ebbing current, and the marine life came out to say goodbye as we came downbay.  We saw a humpback feeding close to shore as well as some porpoises, seals, and a sea otter with young.

Decided to keep going to Swanson Harbor instead of heading up into Excursion Inlet: both Ian and I were enjoying the reading time!  We were delighted to see two more whales come alongside on our way ...

"Anchored in Swanson Harbor in a strong current: saw 10 knots SOG coming in!"
