We had been headed for Kake, but it was a very disagreeable ride, so we changed course
and headed for this anchorage, which turned out to be a real find. We had trouble
getting ourselves organized to anchor: we've yet to do a line to shore, but this was not
to be the place for it either. We pulled anchor and reset it just as one of the
boats from Red Bluff Bay arrived, and asked us about the wind forecast.
Later, a fishing boat and a small sailboat joined us.
Jane's log:
"Pulled up the prawn trap as we left: another 20 prawns for dinner tonight.
"Motored across Chatham Strait in an unpleasant chop. The seas calmed a little as
we came around into Frederick Sound.
"Spotted two humpbacks travelling as we passed Saginaw Bay and a sea lion came out
and called at us as we came by Payne Island on our way to Lords Pocket."
