The "overflow" dock was a terrible place to spend the night: we rolled and
pitched all night, and the wake of passing tugs and fishing boats slapped and banged
against our hull constantly: I got maybe 20 minutes of consecutive sleep.
Up at (we thought) 4:30, as the (80 foot) sailboat in front of us left; at 4:50 the
boat behind us left, and the 200-foot ship was in the bay, waiting for the dock to be
clear. Grumbling that the ship was early, not due to dock before 6, we hastened our
departure, and made our way to Bacon Cove, across the bay from the yacht club. As we
were anchoring, it dawned on Jane that we were still on Alaska time!! The 200-footer had
indeed docked at 0600!! We had been almost an hour late for our dinner reservation
at the Cow Bay Cafe last night!!
Jane made breakfast ...
Jane's log:
"Very rough night: we slept better at Coronation Island!
"We left the dock at 4:51, and saw the cruise ship waiting to dock: early, we
thought. We crossed the bay, and anchored in Bacon Cove until a space was available in the
yacht club. Halfway through breakfast we realised that we were still on Alaska time, and
that we had in fact left the dock at 5:51!!
