Today we did Louise Narrows!!  This passage is dry at low tide, and has about 20 feet at high tide, but you have to go through at half tide, to be able to see the channel.   What a rush: a couple of times, we saw less than 8 feet on the depth meter, meaning less than a foot of water under the keel.  And also a strengthening current against us.   A motorboat came through behind us, and passed us at the only bulge in the otherwise extremely narrow channel.  As he passed, he boasted that he had a draft of only 19 inches.  As we watched him go ahead,  he seemed to have difficulty maintaining a course against the current: the price to be paid for a shallow draft ...

T'anuu village is peaceful, magical.  Nathalie gave us a great tout: T'anuu was a significant village, and the house excavations are still there, along with poles and house beams.  We were able to see the different architectures used for building houses. Bill Reid is buried here, beside 'Charlie'.   The watchmen here were Upsie, Joan, and Douglas.  Douglas showed us how his clothesline anchor worked.  The kayakers that we met at the orientation in Queen Charlotte came ashore while we were there.

Jane's log:

"Checked engine oil and transmission: oil needs a top up since leveling out after last oil change.

"Came through Louise Narrows on our way to Tanu: lowest depth 7.5 feet!!

"After a wonderful visit to Tanu we headed for Anna Inlet. Nathalie’s home village is in a wonderful setting, and it was great to see the house structures.

"Bill Reid has a wonderful resting place.

"Spotted a shark coming our of Dana Passage."
