We tried to leave, but encountered breaking 8-foot rollers right outside the
entrance. We decided to stay another day.
So, we undertook some chores we had been putting of. We aired the front cabin,
and aired the cushions. I tried to fix the nav light: ran the wiring, but couldn't
find the bulb: searched high and low. I decided that it had been washed overboard
at some point (but woke up at three in the morning and remembered where I had put it
...) I vacuumed and cleaned, while Jane and Nathalie went ashore ...
We saw two powerboats go by the entrance to the cove, and tried to hail them, to get a
weather update, without luck.
We decided that we would probably not get to Ninstints (Anthony Island, S'Gang Gwai)
because the weather outlook was for continued strong northerlies, which would make our
proposed 50-mile journey northward from Anthony Island the following day very unpleasant.
Jane's log:
"Left to go to Rose Harbour, but turned back due to very rough seas from the
North: steep 6 breaking seas, which would have made the passage very uncomfortable.
Well listen to the weather to see when it will be OK to leave, we may have to wait
to visit SGaang Gwai until the next trip.
"Took a walk ashore to the Japanese (possible Chinese) graveyard: three graves
dated 41 and 42: we wondered what calendar.
"Heard a hummingbird, as well as sapsuckers and woodpeckers."
