It was raining when we woke up, but stopped shortly after.  The two-horsepower engine, which had run out of gas the previous evening, still refused to start after refilling.

The weather turned nice as we motored south, and eventually we even put up the sails, as there was a bit of wind off the beam.  Of course, soon after we raised the sails, the wind died completely.

We had a few more rains showers as we neared Europa Bay.  There were moorings, and one was actually free!  We took it, and soon thereafter headed over to the hot springs.  They were well-maintained, and the water wasn't too hot, in fact the coolest water of the trip.  We languished: languishing is the correct activity, I think, for a hot spring.  While languishing, we enjoyed a Draft Guinness ...

The mooring was a large rusty metal sphere, which periodically  bumped the hull.   Hopefully it hasn't damaged anything: we'll investigate later.

Another sailboat anchored in the bay later in the evening: a cat rig ...

Jane's log:

"We left Eagle Bay with the sun starting to come out.  Tried, but had no luck, starting the 2hp before we left.

"Had a good view of Jessie Falls behind a rainbow as we headed into Devastation Channel.

"This is the busiest place we've been to so far on this trip (being August probably accounts for it) - I hope the hot springs aren't too busy.  We put the sails up briefly ; learned to pull on the opposite inhaul when outhauling he main, and how to tie a rolling hitch and secure a line so we can change the jib blocks underway.

"One mooring was free when we got to Europa Bay: an awful rusty thing, God knows what it will do to the hull.

"We got the 2hp running, and headed over to the hot springs for a great dip.   These are right up there with Mirror Harbour and Warm Springs.  We've decided we only like rock springs, and not tubs.

"There was a solitary vireo nest at the springs in the rafters: two small birds in the nest, while the folks tried to distract us.  They eventually gave up and settled down, seemingly not bothered by how close we were."
