"The kingfishers came out to say goodbye, probably glad to see us go: they're very
territorial.
"Great entrance to Ocean Falls: the sun was shining and we
got to watch a bear take a stroll along the beach.
"What a strange place! the falls are wow!!
"Bear on the boat!!! The locals say the bears
are hungry, as both the berries and the salmon are late. They've taken to eating
chickens and ducks (another local says the berries are good, but that some locals have
been feeding the bears).
"We had to do a bear watch as we walked to the store (about 2 miles) along the
road through the valley."
