"Left Ocean Falls in light rain. Despite a debris watch, we hit our first
log today.
"Even though the winds were light we set the jib and decided to drift up Dean
Channel. Took the opportunity to play with the spinnaker pole, and although the
outboard fitting was broken, we managed to rig it.
"Ian lost a hat overboard: time to practice our man overboard drill. Not too
impressive: eventually we retrieved it in the dinghy!!
"We stopped off at Mackenzie Park but decided not to go ashore due to rain.
The sun finally came out for a grand entrance into Eucott Bay.
"Great dip in the hot springs before the blue sky disappeared. We were about
to leave because the water was only lukewarm before I realised that someone had cut off
the hot water flow: lucky!!
"Spotted a large black bear on the beach, heading for the hot springs when we came
back aboard.
"We, the seals, another black bear, and an ospray sat down for dinner around 8:00.
"Eagles (including a very large one), ravens, geese and gulls joined us for
breakfast."
