"We left Fury Cove at first light, just after the fishing boat. The rest of
the anchorage left, almost in single file, soon after.
"Made good time, with the current behind us all the way. A humpback came to
say goodbye; we won't see many of them further south. There were some porpoises near
Smith Sound.
"Murres and murlets spotted along the way.
"We motored around Cape Caution with the main up. The swell was large but
very gentle.
"We lowered the main after the cape, as the wind was behind us and so light that
she was flapping around. There was too little wind for the jib, so with a following
sea for a change we headed to Blunden Harbour. The wind did pick up for the last 4
miles but it didn't seem worthwhile setting up the jib.
"We dinghied to the beach but unfortunately the old village site has a 'no
trespassing' sign. This is to discourage people digging for artifacts: I find it
hard to believe people would do this but there have been similar problems in Haida Gwai.
"Went shore further up the bay - Ching caught herself a mouse!"
