"Despite the good weather, Desolation Sound is a bit busy for us, so we will keep
going south, as we got cell coverage at the end of Waddington Channel we didn't need to go
to Squirrel Cove either.
"Well the sun was shining so we decided o keep going further, so we passed Sturt
Bay and Texada Island and headed for Quarry Bay on Nelson Island.
"The sails went up briefly but the winds were too light, so we lowered the jib and
tightened the main: we 'came about' quite a few times on Malaspina Strait, very light and
variable winds.
"As an afterthought we probably should have gone to Lasqueti Island, but after
leaving Desolation Sound we weren't sure where we were going, or how fast. Today we
bypassed four nights' anchorages!
"Over the radio, we hear that 'Bewildered' has crossed a tug's path very close to
the tug's bow, in a traffic separation scheme: not a happy skipper on the tug.
"Again, at Quarry Bay we decided not to stop, and kept going to Whiskey Slough in Pender Harbour. It's 6:35, we'll be
anchored by 8:00 I hope.
"Worth all the detours: we got to see the mountains of Jervis Inlet as the sun set
..."
