This was the crossing I had not been looking forward to all summer, as we had heard dreadful things about the Hecate.  Well, it wasn't so bad.  We had heavy chop off our starboard bow, with rogue waves abeam, but it got calmer and calmer as we approached QCI.

skidegate - nathalies house and museum.jpg (186468 bytes) We anchored behind the island known locally as Fatass Island, near the museum.  We dinghied ashore to meet Nathalie; we went out for dinner in Queen Charlotte (City) and had chinese.

Jane's log:

"Left after cleaning up and checking the v-berth for water.

"A huge herd of Pacific White-sided dolphin swam alongside for nearly an hour. They jumped, back-flipped and did all sorts of neat tricks.

"Lots of Shearwaters, including the Short Tail (slender beak) from Australia.

"We anchored in Rooney Bay, just off the museum.

"Met up with Nathalie and had a great dinner in town.
