Log Entry: Saturday, July 31st, 1999 Ikeda Cove to Echo Harbour via Beresford Inlet: 37.9 nm
We left at 8:00, after determining that the weather forecast was basically unchanged, and headed north. The seas were unpleasant, but manageable. We hit breaking 6-foot seas at Scudder Point, but we got through it ... Beresford Inlet was quiet. We anchored, setting a stern anchor for the first time because the channel was so narrow, and dinghied to the end of the bay, about 3 miles away. Went ashore for a short walk, explored some more. Had lunch, then weighed anchor and motored to Echo Harbour. Going past Shuttle Island, we saw lots of seals on the rocks. Anchored in Echo Harbour: another boat was there! First time in QCI. The weather varied from chilly to boiling. By the end of the day there wasn't a cloud in the sky, and the forecast for the following day was for east / southeast winds, waves less than one meter!! We could have gone to Anthony Island after all ... Jane's log:
